Nao Shirawachi as opLo is an immersive digital, audio visual artist based in Tokyo, Japan.

Loop as a word is looped as opLo.

Nao is a self-taught music composer with thirty years experience. Also a digital video creator, opLo is the name of his project which combines his music & video to create “Motion paintings with music” that provide unpredictable revelations and inspirations.

His music is based on loops, which is the origin of the project name. To make inorganic elements organic is the theme of his music throughout his art. It always has been essential to have organic complex, irregular rhythms built by noise together with transparent, simple repetitive melodic elements.

His visual works capture the textures of everyday roadside flowers, plants, trees and any materials such as walls, stairs, the sky and clouds, finding beauty out of it. Music accompanies his works to color and bring to life everyday motifs. opLo's work transports us into a more utopian world.
